12 Rectory Lane Woodland & Verges
Immediately south of Rectory Green there is signpost pointing the way into a fragment of woodland. The 1866 map of Rectory Lane shows the woodland has grown on what was a southern extension of Rectory Green.
Enter the woodland and take the right hand fork before the gate to the field. The path runs south parallel to the lane. The copse is dominated by large ash trees some festooned in ivy, sycamore and occasional oak trees with an understory of hawthorn, blackthorn, hornbeam and sycamore saplings. There is a ground cover of ferns, ivy, dog's mercury and bramble.
